Virtuozzo OpenVZ
When it comes to choosing a virtualization platform, there are generally only two serious contenders. As funny as it may seem, both of them are from the same company called Parallels. Parallels makes Virtuozzo and OpenVZ, both systems are fairly similar with their own unique features. OpenVZ is the free version of Virtuozzo, but lacks a vast amount of features such as a graphical user interface, APIs and other features. However, it's open-source and can be modified if needed.
When it comes to features-by-feature, when comparing Virtuozzo and OpenVZ, price sometimes doesn't play an important role as much in a web hosting company. This is because if your service doesn't have a web interface and requires manual intervention, this will boost the amount of support requests that are received, thus costing more expenses when it comes to personnel.

When picking your next virtualization technology, take into account the levels of support that you'll be entitled to. For example, when working with open source virtualization technology such as OpenVZ you'll need to be extremely familiar with the Linux operating system to ensure that if problems were to arise within OpenVZ, that you could get them resolved. However, if you where to pick a paid virtualization technology such a Virtuozzo, you'd be entitled to priority support. So, weigh out the two options and make your choice based upon your experience of that of your fellow team members.
